Global stainless steel giant Acerinox delves into the key differences between two well-known types of stainless steel, AISI-316L and AISI-316Ti, commonly used in applications for: water filtration, deonization, mold release, and solvent applications, to name just a few. Both materials are evaluated on their resistance to pitting and localized corrosion, exposure to high temperature, their behaviour during thermal processes, such as welding, as well as their resistance to solvents. The aim of this article is to determine whether AISI-316L is a suitable material replacement for applications that would normally demand AISI-316Ti.
